im smelling heavy bull from i.w now what happened to the huge budget activision wanted to give us but we told them we dont need it? we dont need a beta all that came direct from i.w
they didnt need a huge budget did they and it didnt really need a beta since betas are mainly stress tests not glitch tests.

Na I don't think I.W are talking shit either, I think they just got into a shitty situation with Activison, who don't like or want creativity in any way. Like the CVG article points out that they where against the concept of Modern Warfare, but by the time it came around to making MW2 they couldn't get enough, and I'm willing to bet that they pushed I.W down a narrow pathway when it came to making the game.
And of course Betas are glitch tests Chris, why do you think us Beta testers get into the closed beta section on the forums? it's all about reporting glitches. Granted stress tests have a degree of importance but letting a few thousand people onto a server isn't exactly testing much.

loads get reported and fixed from betas dont you think a bigger budget would have made the game the best it could be? seems to me activision was trying to support i.w the best way a publisher could but i.w knocked them back

a bigger budget means higher turnover needed. why put yourself in that position if you dont need to. the game was brilliant minus the glitches that most games encounter. a bigger budget probably wouldnt have helped that.

Financial support isn't everything, you can give them all the money you but if you don't give them the freedom to create then it's essentially pointless.
In fresher news, the two former IW CEOs are now sueing Activision for unpaid royalities as previously rumored. Also, they are appealing for some sort of contractual right to own the CoD assets, which could potentially hurt Activision big time and might lead to the end of CoD if they aquire it and just bury the series.
I reckon the IW team are loyal to their two main men, but where probably advised to stay in their jobs until they start up a new dev business and get picked up by EA or Ubi.

http://uk.pc.ign.com/articles/107/1074657p1.htmlInteresting stuff in the official court filings. To persuade West and Zampella to stay and create Modern Warfare 2, Activision offered them a MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) that gave West and Zampella creative authority over the Modern Warfare brand, as well as CoD games set in the post-Vietnam era and into the distant future. The MOU stated that no such game can be commercially released without the written consent of West and Zampella. It also gave them the right to operate Infinity Ward independently and to develop new IP after the completion of Modern Warfare 2, if they wished. West and Zampella were told that Activision were investigating breaches of contract and violations of Activision policies. The publisher apparently threatened that anything less that full co-operation with the investigation would constitute insubordination, which itself would justify their termination. The court documents go on to state that the investigation was designed to cause ‘maximum inconvenience and anxiety’. This included conducting interviews over the Presidents’ Day holiday weekend (February 13th and 14th). West and Zampella were apparently interrogated for over six hours in a windowless room, while other investigators brought Infinity Ward employees to tears. Activision apparently threatened West and Zampella with ‘insubordination’ if they were to console their staff. Activision demanded West and Zampella to surrender their computers, phones and communication devices for review. When West and Zampella asserted their legally protected privacy rights, Activision’s counsel said that this would constitute further acts of insubordination. And who said Microsoft were evil? haha
